Today we recorded few mares and I am putting them on my page with Sveifla ( young mares ) Gusa ( for sale ) and Vonardís ( for sale )

Last night our neighbours Kalli and Sigga at Hólum came to visit us and we talked ( mostly about horses ) and we had nice evening togehter. When they left arround 01. clock I looked at  the mares ( like I always do ) Toppa, Gæfa and Náttdís that are in this field closed to our house, and I saw Gæfa standing up and she held her tail a bit far from herself and I thought is she going to have her foal now, and than I saw something trying to get up beside her so she had given birth to her foal already last night while we where talking. We of course rushed out to take pictures and she the gender, I, Aubbi, María and Anna Kristín and for our nice surprise we got red mare with a star and her name will be Glæða. Father is Rökkvi from Hárlaugsstaðir and we are happy that we at least got one mare after him, than there are Díll and Nökkvi.  So we got 8 mares and 7 stallion foals this year. I took also few pictures of Díll and the girls playing with him and he seems to have the super mind that his mother and his siblings have, like Tign and Ýmir ( now in Norway ) for example !

Things are the same here and only one foal left to be born of our mares ( Gæfa having Rökkvi foal ) and than Náttdís is also still left to have her foal. We ride every day with the horses for some running few km so they are in good shape, most of them. Hilde and Auðbjörn are also training few 4 years old and two 5 years old that have bin left out. The horses are Gosi and Glaumur ( 5 years old ) and than Bratti, Spóla, Glaður, Gróði and Póker all 4 years old.It is going well and they have all bin saddled up and ridden inside exept Gróði but he will be ridden today or is ridden while I am writing this ? We are also making this new big fence in the evenings and we are almost half done now and we still need to make another new fence up in the mountain as well. We are than going on Landsmót next week and María is going to Las Palmas for 2 weeks to visit my sister that lives there and she is going with my other sister. Than we need to cut the gras after Landsmót and keep the training going as well. Here are pictures of the training horses.

Sveifla, Rut and Gusa came home today from training at Siggi Sig. and they may go back after landsmót to be ready for late show in August.Today we took the 1 year old stallions and gave them medicene for worms and refreshed their memory in being halter trained. Than we took all the horses and rode over to Jórunnarstaðir as we so often do and changed horses and than we rode across the river and came back home, I was on my car with my girls and María was going over river for her very first time and it was exiting for her. I took the camera with me and took few pictures. I have also added new pictures I took this morning of Díll born 22 second of June 2008.

Díll IS 2008164002 frá Hólakoti black with 1 big sock and 3 small and one spot on his back. Father Rökkvi from Hárlaugsstöðum and mother Toppa from Hraukbæ. We got dressed 5 minutes after midnight and at 00.23 Díll was born. Pictures taken of the birth and soon after and new pictures will follow up later today/tonight.

Last night I went with María and Aubbi to look at the mares with Askur and the foals. We stopped on our way and talked to the 1 year old stallion prospects. Askur is serving 16 mares and maybe he is exspecting 1 more. Here are pictures of the foals, some of them, and I think the palomino stallion foal after Askur and the albino stallion foal are for sale ?

On Sunday when we let 14 horses up to the mountain 3 disappeared almost instantly. We looked at them few hours after and no luck and also at the evening and than we drove very far to look but no luck. Than the day after our neighbour told us that he saw them at the farm that is in the end of the valley but we didnt have the time to look for them than so we went yesterday and we took 3 riding horses and put them into a trailer and drove off. Of course the horses where not at the farm anymore and we couldnt see them either. So we drove further and further in the valley and just as we where giving up ( and not so good to take the trailer on these mountain rodes ) I saw them quite high up from where we where and as soon as they saw us they started to climb and almost run up the steamy mountain. So Auðbjörn and the girls Hilde and María rushed to saddle up their horses and Auðbjörn rode up the mountain trying to get in front of them before we would loose them for good or at least far, far away. He almost managed to get in front of them but his horse ( or my horse ) Hátíð gave up and he just jumped off her and left her there and ran in front of the horses and Hátíð just stood their waiting for him to come back. Thank god they came down now and headed back down the valley. We managed to bring them into a fence at the last farm at the valley and their we put them into the trailer and drove them home. We left the riding horses in the fence and rode back with all he other horses to pick them up and keep the other in training, but that didnt go so well at all. When they crossed the river ( to shorten their way a bit ) Auðbjörns horse fell because it was so much water and the river was so strong it just sweeped the feet from under him and they both fell into the river and straggled back to shore on the other side though and barly. I dont know what would have happened if Auðbjörn didnt hang on to his horse and he dragged him to shore ? I drove home and brought him a whole new set of clothes to were. Than everything was fine after this. Than today we had to go further down the valley than where we live to pick up 14 of our horses on this farm because he hadnt fixed the mountain fence so they came down. That all went well and we let 2 of the horses we brought yesterday out again with this group in the mountain again, but they ran as far as we could see them but they are though alright and going the right way. This morning at 5.02 I woke up to look at Hespa because I knew she was having her foal last night and at 5.11 Spotti was born. Father is Borði from Fellskot 1. price stallion. Color on Spotti is good or dun/red dun with blaze.

Now it is 1 week since I last wrote something on my page so it is about time to write something. Nothing much has happened but we have bin doing stuff though. Sæla that had her stallion foal last Monday did exept the mare foal we gave her right after her foal was born so she has 2 to feed and take care off now. We took the horses after we had given them medecine for worms up to the mountain. Last group we put there was yesterday 14 and in that group there where 4 foals as well. We have bin very active in taken the horses for a run and we than ride few km each time so they are in good shape now. Askur is serving 15 mares now and 2 are yet to come, Sæla and Toppa and she hasnt given birth to her foal yet. Randver is serving his mares down at my in-laws farm and they are arround 20 his mares and he has also served few before he left home. Today we took the horses for a run and I took few pictures of that. Just now Kofri and  three 2 years old stallions went to a stallion field near by. New pictures are soon up off Viska under a rider and also a bautiful and easy 5 gaited gelding with good movements will be up for sale, Kyndill !
